SYNOPSIS

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash hit, Little Shop of Horrors has been captivating audiences for over 30 years. Created by the legendary duo Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin), this cult classic remains one of the most beloved shows in the world.

Follow the meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who discovers a strange and spectacular new plant he lovingly names “Audrey II”—after his coworker (and secret crush). But this isn't your average houseplant. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore offers Seymour fame and fortune… for a price: BLOOD.

As Audrey II grows, so do the stakes. Seymour soon uncovers the plant’s shocking origins—and its plans for global domination!

SEYMOUR KRELBORN
An insecure, put-upon florist’s clerk and unlikely hero. Genuine and well-meaning, Seymour is often overlooked due to his awkwardness and lack of confidence.
Gender: Male
Vocal Range: A2–G4

AUDREY
Seymour’s coworker and secret love. A sweet, vulnerable, and stunning blonde with low self-worth but a big heart. Think Billie Dawn charm with tenderness underneath.
Gender: Female
Vocal Range: G#3–D5

MR. MUSHNIK
The owner of Mushnik’s Skid Row Florist. Greedy, manipulative, and always looking for an angle, yet oddly paternal when convenient.
Gender: Male
Vocal Range: G2–F4

ORIN SCRIVELLO, DDS
A swaggering, leather-loving dentist with a huge ego and a taste for chaos. Abusive, outrageous, charismatic, and larger than life.
Casting all genders for this role.
Vocal Range: G2–G4

THE PLANT (AUDREY II)

A slick, street-smart villain with a bold Rhythm & Blues sound.
A series of puppets represent Audrey II’s early growth stages. Traditionally performed as a puppet, but in this production, the final version of Audrey II will be played by a human actor rather than a full-body puppet played by a human actor utilizing our scaffolding.
Casting all genders, including the possibility of casting a drag queen.
Seeking someone with a big personality, strong physicality, and expressive facial and upper-body acting.

CRYSTAL
RONNETTE
CHIFFON
A trio of street urchins acting as a modern Greek Chorus—witty, sharp, stylish, and always aware of what’s really going on.
Gender: Female
Vocal Range: Ab3–F5

This production also includes a small ensemble, with opportunities for puppeteers to operate Audrey II during its early growth stages.

Audition Tips

Auditions can be exciting and nerve-racking. Here are some tips from us on how to have a successful and enjoyable audition experience.

  • If you are asked to present a song or monologue, prepare your piece well. Become familiar with any sides or monologues given to you ahead of times.

  • Remember that your audition for every show begins the moment you walk in the door. You may be perfect in the audition room, but rudeness or misbehavior in the lobby will be noticed.

  • We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so that all of your paperwork can be completed before you go in for your auditions. Arriving early also gives you time to relax and focus and not feel rushed.

  • It is very helpful to director and staff if you are truthful about conflicts, desired roles and if you will accept other roles. This helps the casting process go smoother and decreases any rehearsal schedule issues in the future.

  • This means you should dress in clothes that are comfortable and will not impede your movement.

  • If you make a mistake, do not apologize. Remember that others may not even notice a mistake, but if you point it out to them, they will know for sure.

  • Don’t worry about being nervous. Just about everyone is nervous. Do your best to smile and have a good time.

  • Our audition staff wants you to do your best! We are rooting for you and can't wait to see you shine!
